boardroomDirectors and Management

Led by a dedicated, all-female Board of Directors, the Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging started in 1908 by providing stipends to help older people remain in their own homes. In the 1930s, social work case management was the first home-and-community-based service to be offered by the organization. In the 1940s, the organization began providing residential care to older adults unable to live in their own homes. In 1961, a research department was created to develop and evaluate services for older people and their families. In 2007, a policy institute was established to provide leadership in evidence-based public policy development.
