Rose Centers for Aging Well, a subsidiary of Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging, recently received a $7,500 grant award from the CareSource Foundation to support the Rose Centers' Home-Delivered Meal program.
The Rose Centers for Aging Well promotes successful aging for Northeast Ohio's adults by offering opportunities, programs and services that foster choice and independence.
The Rose Centers provide home-delivered meals throughout Cuyahoga County to over 725 home bound seniors weekly. Many home-delivered meal clients are eligible for nursing home care, two-thirds live at or below the poverty level and the majority live alone and have few or no social networks.
The Rose Centers also provide meals to seniors in seven neighborhood centers and offers social, health and wellness programs to older adults in the community.
Funding received from the CareSource Foundation grant will support the Home-Delivered Meal program by removing seniors currently on the waiting list, and help maintain as short a waiting list as possible. The investment will help sustain Rose Centers' goal to provide meals to vulnerable seniors while evaluating and developing a new model for operating home-delivered meals.
