Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging invites you to attend our 14th Annual Katz Policy Lecture on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. via GoToWebinar. Our keynote speakers, Bill Armbuster, Senior Advisor of AARP Livable Communities, and Mary McNamara Director of the Cleveland Department of Aging will discuss age-friendly communities, including work developing nationally and in the Cleveland-area. The webinar will introduce the Age-Friendly Network, outline the importance of age-friendly communities to support individuals aging in place, and discuss the connection between age-friendly and dementia-friendly communities. Local panelists will discuss ongoing work and future directions to make Northeast Ohio age-friendly.

Bill Armbruster
Senior Advisor of AARP Livable Communities
Bill manages the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities (NAFSC), which is a program within AARP Livable Communities. Since his time leading this program, it has grown to include over 480 communities, 6 states and 1 territory. He has been with AARP since 2000. Bill typically travels frequently (until COVID-19) and far to communities, conferences and meetings nationwide as a speaker and facilitator for the AARP Livable Communities initiative.
Mary McNamara
Director of the Cleveland Department on Aging
Mary McNamara was appointed by Mayor Frank G. Jackson as the Director of Aging for the City of Cleveland in December 2016. She joined the Department of Aging team in 2008 as an Administrative Manager. She leads a dynamic and passionate team that is committed to making Cleveland more age friendly. She oversees the department’s home repair and maintenance services, social services. Aging and Disability Resource Center, safety programs, Age Friendly Initiatives and special events. Prior to her work at the city, she worked at Fairhill Partners and several faith based nonprofits. Mary earned her undergraduate degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Social Administration from the Mandel School of Applied Social Science at Case Western Reserve University. She holds an Independent Social Worker License with supervision designation from the State of Ohio.
